Pirates has been extended to July 18th!

Pirates!
Virtually irresistible to both adults and children, this fascinating exhibition unfolds tales of real-life pirates to examine the social and economic forces that compelled their career choices and the pivotal role they played in the early history of the American colonies.
Florida's East Coast Pirates, on loan from the Museum of Arts and Sciences, Daytona Beach, traces east coast piracy demonstrating the diversity and dramatic impact it had on Florida's history. An English pirate attack against our own Dauphin Island in 1711 brings home the point that piracy affected and influenced local culture, economy and society from the 17th to the early 19th century.
Artifacts include armaments from the late 1700s, including flintlock pistols, longarms, sabers, swords, daggers, and other weapons. Also on display are coins, bullion, ingots and tools recovered from shipwrecks off the East Coast.
Children will take the wheel of our sunken pirate ship and search for buried treasure while adults get a glimpse of the characters that charged the waters with their intrigues and exploits.
